Friday Release Will Brad Pitt win Oscar for 'Moneyball'?


Brad Pitt is among those Hollywood actors who are equally popular in India also. In fact, he and Tom Cruise are the best known Hollywood actors in India. His latest Oscar entry 'Moneyball' is releasing in India this Friday.
Directed by Bennett Miller, 'Moneyball' is a sports drama based on the book by the author Michael Lewis.
The film deals with the Oakland Athletics baseball team and its general manager Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) who is in search of a winning combination. His assistant Peter Brand (Jonah Hill) understands the technicalities involved in the game and thus when he finds a good manager starts to build a new team. Hill begins with acquiring a new pitcher Chad Bradford (Casey Bond) and a catcher Scott Hatteberg (Chris Pratt). The team starts to win and doesn't stop before winning 20 straight games and setting a new American League record.

'Moneyball' is nominated for six Academy Awards including the best actor award. However, Brad Pitt will have to face a tough competition there as actors of the calibre of Dujardin, Gary Oldman, Demian Bichir and George Clooney are also nominated. This is Brad Pitt's first chance to be nominated in the best actor category. Earlier he was nominated in the same category for 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' but failed to win the award.
