By now, the term Agneepath must be very familiar to all the Indians who are following the current India-Australia cricket series. The hero of this movie is directly associated with this series. For the uninformed, Agneepath is the new Hrithik Roshan movie co-starring ‘Jungli Billi’ Priyanka Chopra. Karan Johar presents this movie which has been directed by debutante Karan Malhotra. Let’s see what the music of Agneepath has to offer. Ajay-Atul are the composers.
Chikni Chameli...
Shreya Ghoshal
This song is straight out of the ‘kuthu’ rule book made famous in Tamil Nadu and other southern states. This obsession started off with 'Dhinka Chika' in 'Ready', carried over to 'The Dirty Picture' and now we have Katrina Kaif taking the industry by storm with 'Chikni Chameli'. Shreya Ghoshal shows her versatility in handling such rustic local songs as well as the heavenly melodies. The lines are very catchy and the song is foot tapping like all the ‘kuthu’ songs of our land, without being special. Will bowl over the masses totally and get this film an opening in the rural heartland of our country.
O Saiyyan...
Roop Kumar Rathod
It’s been a while since Roop Kumar Rathod sang for a big Hindi film. The melody and flow in his voice are hard to miss. The song might come as a montage in the movie. Sounds very intense and melodramatic. It has some lovely string interludes which have the Rahman touch. Has an unmistakable similarity to a recent song from an SRK movie. Any guesses?
Gun Gun Guna...
Udit Narayan, Sunidhi Chauhan
This song generates positive vibes and an energy right from the beginning. We have the sultry Sunidhi Chauhan accompanied by a catchy chorus of ‘Gun Gun Guna’. Udit Narayan’s ever youthful voice pitches in, right at the end. A nice celebratory dance song that keeps the mood happy and cheerful.
Shah Ka Rutba...
Sukhwinder Singh, Anand Raj Anand, Krishna Beura
A devotional song dedicated to Allah, which will tend to involve the audience more with the visuals. Nice emotions invested by all the singers. Has heavy instrumental usage and percussions. Religiously inclined listeners will sway to the lyrics and get immersed in the religious treat.

Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin...
Sonu Nigam
Here comes Sonu Nigam’s honey laden voice. His voice is never buried under heavy beats. It is gentle with mild tabla, dhol, strings and piano for company. The mesmerizing violin bits after the Pallavi and Anupallavi are reminiscent of Maestro Ilayaraja’s compositions. A melodic treat, all the way

Deva Shree Ganesha...
Ajay Gogavale

A full-on thumping religious outing with crunching percussions. The lead singer reminds of Sukhwinder Singh’s voice. He brings about the same energy and passion in his rendition. This dramatic song will do the rounds during the yearly Ganesha festival particularly in the Maharashtra belt. A sure shot hit in 'maurya' Mumbai. The sloka verses towards the end lift the tempo and the mood considerably.
Verdict: Agneepath’s music is not exactly according to the current Bollywood trend but it has a couple of melodic treats, a crunching item song, another cheerful dance number and some foot tapping religious numbers thrown in the mix. Good variety
