Prateik's career started with a blockbuster 'Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na'; alongside Imran Khan and Genelia D'Souza. He portrayed the role of Genelia's brother which won him appreciations from critics and earned him several awards and nominations.
On the other, Naga Chaitanya debuted in Josh, a film based on college life. His portrayal of a love-lorn film director in Gautam Menon's 'Ye Maaya Chesave' won him critical acclaim.
Both Prateik and Naga Chaitanya gained popularity due to their similar acting styles. Prateik is the son of late actress Smita Patil and actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar. Naga Chaitanya is the son and nephew of the leading Tollywood actors Nagarjuna and Venkatesh respectively.
Naga Chaitanya's Josh flopped at the box office but his performance secured him the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for South Indian films. His movie 100% Love along with Tamannah Bhatia was considered a box office hit. But his Bejawada directed by Ram Gopal Varma and Dhada by Ajay Bhuyan was considered to be a disaster in his career.
Prateik acted in many films as well such as Dum Maro Dum with Abhishek Bachchan and Rana Daggubatti, Dhobi Ghat with Aamir Khan. He also acted in Prakash Jha'sAarakshan alongside Amithabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Manoj Bajpai. He played the lead role in the film My Friend Pinto which did not do well at the box office.
Both the actors are emerging talents and indeed the expectations are high from the people. They are willing to experiment with roles.
Prateik's next film is Ekk Deewana Tha by Gautam V Menon. It is the remake of Tamil Blockbuster Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. Naga Chaitanya played the role of a cameo in the Tamil version of the film. Naga Chaitanya is presently working on director Deva Katta's Autonagar Surya and Gouravam.
The similarity of mannerism is found in both the actors and at present both holds similar position in the industry. Well, both the actors deserve appreciation for their contribution towards Indian cinema but it's only their upcoming films that decide their fate, popularity and career in the industry.
