Will 'Players' change Sonam Kapoor's 'good girl' image?

Gone are the days when Sonam Kapoor was seen as someone who can fulfil the slot of a quintessential Indian beauty. Her face has a very distinct Indian touch to it which coupled by some intelligent cloth selection makes her appear as a typical neighbourhood girl. However, Sonam seems anxious to get rid of the good girl image. Have a second look at 'Players' teasers if you don't believe it.
Sonam has so far acted in just six films, and she has played a 'good girl' in all of them. Starting from 'Saawariya' and 'Delhi 6', Sonam looked more of a traditional middle class girl than a suave and catty high class babe.
'I Hate Luv Storys' and 'Aisha' have portrayed her in a different light but that too was not enough to get Sonam an image like Bipasha Basu or Eva Mendes. In fact, these films concreted an image which was entirely different from what she is doing in 'Players'. Basically, a biker girl image was elusive for her despite flaunting latest trends on and off the screen.

She did one or two dance numbers in 'Thank You' but the director ultimately persuaded her to become the proverbial Indian wife. Pankaj Kapur's 'Mausam' provided her the chance to look beautiful and matured but that character couldn't be called as an ultra modern chic.
The initial trailers of Abbas-Mustan's 'Players' showed Sonam showing the middle finger, a never seen before gesture in Bollywood. Then she expressed no qualms about doing such a gesture in her subsequent interviews which signifies her desperation to be known as a good future prospect.
The Hindi film industry is getting closer to Hollywood every year and this may prompt the industry to go for more chic flicks based on the lines of Hollywood hits. It seems Sonam Kapoor has sniffed the opportunities and thus she is preparing herself for the Bollywood of tomorrow.
